The Bachelor of Commerce provides students with the knowledge and skills required by professionals
in the areas of human resources management, accounting, banking and financial services, and
business management.
A flexible course structure allows you to create a study program that suits you and your career
interests. Beyond your studies in the key commerce fields, a variety of major/minor combinations are
available, including human resources, accounting and business management.
This degree has recognition from CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia
for the Accounting Stream, the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance for the Banking and
Financial Stream, and the Australian Securities and Investment Commission for the Financial Planning
Stream.
Upon successful completion of selected diplomas or advanced diplomas, students will be granted
credit exemptions and are able to complete the Bachelor of Commerce in a shorter duration according
to their University of Canberra study plan.

The Bachelor of Fashion (Apparel Engineering and Design) aims to produce graduates with the skills
required in the fashion industry.
Graduates of this course will have a thorough understanding of each of the areas within the Apparel
and Textiles supply chain, including: design innovation, pattern engineering, manufacturing and pre-
production, and professional practice. The course is designed to meld knowledge and experience
together. Graduates will have developed the ability to review, consolidate, extend and apply their
knowledge and skills they have learned in order to create innovative fashion designs and garments
appropriate to the requirements of an industry brief.
The course will provide students with a depth of patterning and design knowledge and skills, both
manually and electronically, through the use of computer aided design technology. This will provide
graduates with a strong skill set with which to enter and add value to Apparel and Textiles companies,
both in Australia and internationally. Graduates are also equipped with the business knowledge and
communication skills necessary to convey their innovative garment concepts and solutions to others
and develop them into commercial products.
The combination of industry-focussed and case based delivery models in this course aims to develop
life-long problem solving and learning skills appropriate to the professional practice of fashion design.
Students who do not meet the entry requirements for this course may apply for the Certificate IV in
Applied Fashion Design and Technology. Refer to Page 38 for more information. Students who achieve
a credit average across all subjects will be eligible for direct entry into the Bachelor of Fashion (Apparel
Engineering and Design).
Students wishing to undertake this course at MSIT (Brisbane) will need to commence their studies with
the Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Technology at MSIT (Brisbane). On successful completion
of the MSIT Diploma, they will get one year’s credit towards the degree. It will take another two years
to complete the degree.

The Bachelor of Graphic Design stresses creativity, innovation and communication in the interpretation,
analysis and visualisation of ideas and information, and their initiation and implementation through all
media.
It provides a unique insight into graphic design in both the Australian and global contexts and connects
history and theory with contemporary practice.
The course provides a general introduction to graphic design followed by specific technical and artistic
studies in both analogue and digital modes. Students will achieve high level of proficiency in the
execution of design processes and procedures.
Graduates will be equipped to pursue design careers in industry or in design consultancies, to extend
their expertise in further studies, or to initiate design or design related enterprises.
