This course is designed for those people who intend to work in residential aged care facilities under
supervision, performing a range of activities supporting residents with their personal care, health
and overall wellbeing.
Students are required to study two days per week in the classroom and to undertake a minimum
of 100 hours (1 day per week) of practical placement at an Aged Care facility for the duration of the
course.
Students must provide a national police check certificate prior to commencing placement.

The Certificate IV in Aged Care is designed for those people who have experience working within
the aged care sector. This course is suited to those wanting to further develop their skills and
knowledge or move into team leadership roles.
Students are required to undertake a minimum of 180 hours (1 day per week) of practical
placement at an Aged Care facility for the duration of the course. Students must provide a national
police check certificate prior to commencing placement
Training in First Aid to Level 2 is of benefit.

This Diploma of Community Services Work prepares competent personnel to work in the social and
community services industry. Community Services workers are employed by a variety of government
and non-government organisations to provide with holistic support and referral services to some of
the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our society including the children and young
people with disabilities, people affected by drug and alcohol addiction, the mentally ill, homeless,
unemployed and victims of domestic violence, amongst others.
Community Services workers will often work with an individual or a group to assess their needs
and either deliver appropriate services or manage the delivery of services to meet the client’s
needs. They may also work in a community development setting undertaking projects, education or
research to improve community capabilities or make them more self-sufficient.
Students must complete two six-week industry placements (a minimum of 400 hours) during their
studies which are a crucial part of their final assessment.
